I am wrapping up my paperwork for spousal sponsorship. However, I haven't been able to find an answer to my question.

How is the court translator suppose to translate character 'ć' to English (for those unfamiliar with it, it's pronounced 'ch' - "vić" is equivalent to
"vich"? Should he just put a hyphen on 'c' as it is written in Serbian, or should he change it to 'c' for clarity/conistency purposes? The only document that requires the exact name as it is in the passport is form IMM0008, so I assume that I should enter 'ć' on it, but put 'c' elsewhere (i.e. on every other form)?

I'm quite confused as I don't want this to be a hurdle. Thanks in advance.

Hi Nole,

My forms were also translated with a "C" only, that should be sufficient as far as I know. Like you say, the only form that requires the exact name as written in your language is the IMM0008. Anywhere else in forms, you can just use a “C”, especially if you are typing them. No worries, they do not make fuss about these details as much as we think, yet we stress over every little thing because we can’t help it.

Good luck to you and your spouse! :)

@WYWH

Thank you very much for your reply. It is difficult indeed not to pay attention to all those tiny details. There is always that fear that the whole process might be delayed, but sometimes you just can't help it. Thank you for your wishes as well.

Cheers.

IMM0008 does not require applicants to submit their name in the native language. It just asks to provide your name exactly as it appears in your passport.

IMM5406 (Additional Family Information) requires names to be written in the native language. IMM5669 (Background Declaration) also requires the applicant's name to be written in the native language.

Other than that, you just enter your name as it appears in your travel document (i.e. passport).

Hope this helps.
