Does anyone know current wait times, FROM ACTUAL RECENT EXPERIENCE?

We are trying to bring over a woman from the Philippines (currently working in Hong Kong) as a nanny. When we decided to do this in January 2014, we were told the wait time at the Hong Kong embassy was about 3 months. So we offered her employment in February 2014. We got our LMO March 31, 2014. She submitted a complete application to the embassy in Hong Kong on April 22. Her medical came back approved on May 15.

And we have been waiting ever since. I have now heard it is SIX months wait time, and I am soooo frustrated! I have to go back to work September 2, and now I feel very worried she will not be here. I thought we would have plenty of time since we hired her in February. CIC makes me crazy!

So does anyone know from recent experience what the wait times are like right now?

It is really unpredictable now. Some are 3 months, some take 5 to 6 months. Since you applied April it must be 3 to 4 months if there is no other problem with your nanny's application. Kindly ask your hired nanny what method she used. If there is representative, is it authorized? Many applicantions refused due to that reason.

Hi Ana, no problem getting the LMIA and my nanny responses to your request in a timely manner too. All we are waiting for is the work visa. It has been over three months now!!
I started the LMIA in Feb..... I didn't expect it takes this long.
This is my second time to hire a nanny from HK, it took less than six month 3 years ago.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Our nanny did use an agency to assist her in putting her application package together. I'm fairly sure they were a reputable agency, since she used an agency that had successfully assisted several friends of her to come to Canada as nannies.

I am hearing all over the place that it is now suddenly 5 to 6 months for processing. So frustrating! I go back to work soon, and no nanny.

She does check the status of her application on-line, and all she gets is the standard message that it is being processed. I wish so much there was a way to just know the timing, so I can plan my life. I thought she would be here by early August, but now I think I'll be lucky if she's here by October.

Just posting a quick update in case it helps anyone.

Our timeline was this:

Interviewed the nanny via Skype in late February of 2014.
Offered her employment March 2 2014.
Obtained LMO March 31 2014.
She submitted her application to the HK embassy on April 22, 2014.
September 17, 2014 she received a letter from the embassy asking for her passport.
September 29, 2014 she submitted her passport in person at the embassy.
October 3, 2014 her passport was returned to her (they originally told her it would take up to a month, but we wrote a letter begging them to rush it because she was required to leave Hong Kong by October 10).

Total time from interview to obtaining visa - 7.5 months.
Total time from application submission at the embassy to obtaining a visa - 5.5 months.

Hi Lucy,

We are having the same problem with sponsoring our nanny in Hong Kong. Her contract expires September 30th and she still hasn't got her visa yet. What did you write in the urgent letter you sent to Hong Kong embassy? Was it by email or mail? And what address did you send it to? It would help us a lot. We started the process and got the LMO/LMIA in back in November 2014 and we are still waiting. It's been so frustrating. Thanks,
