I had a long talk in one of the discussion groups today about FSW and EE-FSW. Since May 2014, CIC has been accepting applications for FSW for 50 eligible occupations. As we all know the Cap is 25000 applications with the sub cap of 1000 applications per occupation.
So far they have received 11544 applications towards the 25000 ceiling. For the first time they have revealed that beside 11544 there are about 4500 complete apps sitting in the pipeline which are complete and waiting for someone to send the approvals out. So, about 16000 apps in total. In 15 more days they might get another 1000-1500 apps.
The points that were discussed in the UBC Alumni group were:
1. 47000-51000 Federal Apps next year - Where do you think the applications will come from? They have a budget of immigration to meet.
2. These numbers does not include the PNP portion of the Express Entry
3. We know that they have "IMPLIED" the minimum language thresholds. But nowhere in the regulations or gazette they have mentioned the threshold. They are going with the existing FSW language threshold of CLB 7. We still don't have any credible information where we can say yes or no to the client based on the IELTS results when they are awarding points for the minimum CLB 3 level. Yes, they are punishing people by not giving them points for the Work Experience if they have less than CLB 7 but again refer to the number of applications above and explain where will we get almost a 100,000 new economic immigrants next year? Are we setting the bar up too high?? OR
4. Its all about CRS!!! Bring me WES and IELTS (paper only) and consider yourself in? Really? That simple?
5. Looks like the first pick at the end of January is going to be the cream of the crop. People who actually have experience, IELTS and Higher degrees who could not make the Caps will get the ITAs. Also, if Provinces are looking at this the same way focused groups like us are, they will be incredibly eager to jump in the pick the Best and the Brightest before all they are left with is.... Well the only word comes to mind is "Bottom Feeders". Going forward, it will be a slow erosion of talent in the pool. However, the immigration quota has to be met. So, the CRS score will go down by spring time.
Thanks everyone.... More information should be available soon .. Stay tuned!!!
