We applied (created EE profile) in Aug'14 end then we got P/T Notification from Ontario, we also sent out our OINP application package, and everything was fine until yesterday we got a mail from CIC that there is an update for our profile.
Upon checking we realized that our score has been reduced by 25 points under 'CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience'.

***Problem Statement***

On further investigation we found that since most part of our minimum 3 years experience required is accumulated at the fag end of the last 10 years. So as time was progressing count of that experience was reducing day by day (or month by month actually).
But simultaneously as time is progressing it is also adding new experience to my already existing earlier experience (of 7~7.5 years ago) since i am currently working under the same NOC. Unfortunately EE program logic isn't considering that.

The problem that is happening here is that EE (it's background logic of TOTAL experience calculation) isn't counting my current (ongoing) job experience (entered as a separate line item at the bottom of the Form - if you remember filling the EE online Form where we need to check the 'Current Job' box) and adding to the previous to arrive at the Total experience acquired till date.

FYI there is a gap of 7~7.5 yrs between previous job (experience) and current job (which i started immediately after creating the profile.)

This is a major flaw in the CIC EE Logic which i think they aren't aware of yet.

Here the assumption is in the clause for the past 10 yrs. of job experience the end date (i.e. today) is dynamic (as time passes) and keeps moving with time along with the start (date) of 10 yrs period.

While i agree this is a borderline case scenario but if my current job experience is taken into account i will always be 2 month surplus vis-a-vis the minimum requirement (of 3 years).

Don't know how to resolve this issue...

***Suggested Solution***

****Thinking aloud****
What if instead of ticking off the check box that says 'current job' i keep putting a 'From and To' date ('To' date would be today's date each month) for the current job every 2 months or so???
****Thinking aloud ends here****

The benefit of doing this is i don't get a new EE number (as some very helpful members here suggested that i create a new profile every 2 months or so...am sure here you would agree that getting a new EE# every 2 months would be a hassle now that us having already got the P/T invite and applied for it) every time i change the date.

A pertinent question here is will this tantamount to misrepresentation? I hope not....

Any help & further suggestions from seniors is welcome.

N.B.: Please do let me know how/where do i raise this issue with CIC so that i can inform them to bring this to their attention.

1. After deducting 25 points if your points total is still above 400 (requirement for OINP) you shouldn't worry too much.
2. It's tricky, your method might work, I don't agree to creating a profile every 2 months
Why isn't it counting your current experience in the line items at the bottom? I had no problems with that.
In my case for example, I had 2 roles in the same company, but i separated them (2 different line items) Try putting the end date that would secure your points and see if the scores revert back.
After all, you wont get ITA in the next 24-48 hrs

Totally valid point except that i didn't say i'll create a NEW profile every 2 months (thats exactly i want to avoid) what i said (or probably meant) was that I will update the 'To' date of my current job every 2 months. (which is what you are also suggesting)

Could it be such that the reason its counting in your case and not in mine is that my 'From' date for my current job is after the profile creation date (4 days after profile creation) - Just a thought

What's your opinion?

And yes unfortunately it goes sub 400 post reduction. and so we are worried. :( :( :( :(

You can provide an end date for the current job so that 3 years of foreign experience is met. Then add another row for current job with new start date .. you can also have the same NOC code but different role which is almost matching for the experience ..

like NOC 2171 - Software developer, Senior Software developer .. both have same NOC but different role for each work history.

Right suggestion... :)

But unfortunately can't do that because it wont fulfill the 3 yrs. (min.) requirement. To do that we need the contribution of the current job.

if you put end date to Nov for the current job and then start another row as Dec with new role description will t not serve the purpose .. am assuming that you have already completed 3 years by now ..

Let us try that...may or may not work.

Although we'll be a little short for 3 year requirement, but the good part is for calculating the 10 year cutoff date (start date) EE logic uses 10.5 yrs (10 yrs & 6 months) instead of exact 10 years to do the calculation. This we have deduced logically and found it to be true.

Reason being even a person who started working 10 yrs 11 months ago can claim S/he started 10 yrs. ago (for total experience calculation purpose).

Dear Seniors,
I tried that but unfortunately the scores did not change :(

What i did is as below:

1. Then re-entered the current job (same info w/o checking the 'current job') mentioning the
From Date: Sept'15 and To Date: Dec'15 and then

2. Adding another job line item for the same job but with
From Date: Dec'15 and checked the 'current job' check box. Hence there is no 'To' Date.

Now our Question is "Why is it not accounting our current job for calculating the total experience?" (pls note our previous experience is at the very beginning of 10yrs and falling short just by a few months that my current job can makeup if included in calculation)

Does that mean the EE system does not include anything that is current and/or job that is takenup after creating the EE profile.

If not then why do they ask us to update any changes in the profile?

Is the problem because our profile creation date is before the current job start date?

Note: Our profile creation date is 28th Aug and our current job start date is 01-Sept-2015 (after profile creation date)

Seniors please help SOS!!!

For the points/fsw eligibility doesn't the employment need to be continuous? That might be your problem. Read the rules on the cic website again. It's Cec that doesn't need to be continuous but you must have 12 months spread over 3 years (or is it 5?) in Canada.

Edit: says continuous experience here
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

For FSW it says as below

Minimum requirements
Skilled work experience

Your work experience must be:

at least one year (1,560 hours total / 30 hours per week), continuous full-time or an equal amount in part-time,
paid work (volunteer work, unpaid internships do not count),
in the same NOC skill type (0, A or B),
within the last 10 years, and
at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

What does the phrase "within the last 10 years" mean?

Is it before you apply or ...[dynamic]?

10 years is from the day you submit your application after getting an ITA not from when you make your EE profile. While you are in the pool it is rolling but once you apply after your ITA it is licked. Your current work experience can't top up the experience you got 7.5 years ago because the experience needs to be continuous. Having 2.5 years and then a 5 year gap before the next few months is not continuous.

I understand what you are saying...but the CIC website says and i quote "at least one year(1,560 hours total / 30 hours per week), continuous full-time or an equal amount in part-time,"

Its not written anywhere that all of the 3 years has to be continuous. Only one year (at least) should be continuous.

Am i reading something wrong anywhere...pls help me understand if its so..
