I arrived in Toronto June 2005 then had to go to my home country (Pakistan) after 45 days.
all this time in Pakistan i was with my family taking care of my grandfather he had a kidney failure and was on dialysis. He unfortunately passed away in 2013 and now i have wind up everything in Pakistan and trying to move back to Canada.
My PR expired in 2010 and i have check on this forum i cant enter with expired pr through commercial means as PR only required for ( plane, bus, or train) . My only option is through the Canada land border. If i apply for a Travel document i read many stories that chances of rejection are high.
I am traveling to states NY from there to buffalo from there my family in Canada will pick me in their private car for border crossing ( my family all are Canadian citizens.)
documents with me are :
1.SIN card
2.health card expired
3.Pr card expired
4. landed documents
5. Grand father medical reports and receipts and his death certificate.
can anyone please advice if its possible to enter Canada this way or will i be deported to states and will NT be granted an entry to Canada.
If some one has similar problem and tried their luck with Canada land border crossing experience please share your experience.
Ps. i am from a non visa exempt country. but have a USA visa.

It doesn't matter if your PR card has expired, since you are still a PR you are guaranteed to be allowed into Canada.

HOWEVER since you have been outside Canada so long and do not meet the residency obligation, there's a high chance the CBSA office at border will report you to CIC. In this case after you enter Canada, you'll be called to a hearing with CIC during which they may revoke your PR status and tell you to leave Canada.

If you think you have a H&C case in taking care of your sick relative, you should bring as much proof of that as possible (doctor notes, hospital records, etc). You can even show this to the CBSA and hope he doesn't report you, although with such a long absence out of Canada you would need to get incredibly lucky.

If you can enter without being reported, then you need to stay in Canada for 2 years without leaving even once, and only then can you apply to renew your PR card.

Hi Furqan

First of all avoid using your name as ID as it might hurt you, second if u have been on this forum then u know the lawyer is making u fool, as you need atleast 730 days out of last five years in Canada before you apply for renewal.

Stay very far away from this lawyer. What he is suggesting is misrepresentation (he would have to fake the number of days you have spent in Canada and lie about other material facts) - which will result in your PR status being revoked and quite possibly also a ban for five years from entering Canada.
