Hello,
my partner and I are in a critical situation. Our visa expires on September 7th (we are on a 1 year WHV with no possibility of extension). After applying for the LMIA so that she can work and continue, and waiting for her positive resolution, the problem we have is that I cannot work when the visa expires. We had thought about applying for an open work permit as a common-law, and it is still our main idea but we have seen that on the immigration website it can take 11 months to process! That would be a very long time to be out of work.
My doubts are: is that really the time it can take to be processed? Could I work in any way during that time?
And another: what is the fastest way in terms of time that I can get a work permit? Be it LMIA, permanent residency, anything?
Thank you in advance
