Criminal check & passport expiring

After getting approval for sponsorship, we have sent the PR application for my father in New Delhi on March 31, 2008. I have two doubts though...

1. The PR application requires to be submitted with Criminal Record Check (CRC) from all the jurisdictions where the applicant has lived for more than 6 months since the age of 18. My father has lived in Accra, Ghana (in Africa) for 2 years, hence he was required to submit CRC from Ghana Police commissioner's office. According to the CIC website, the applicant needs to submit the application for CRC with all required documents to the commissioner's office and they send the CRC report directly to High Commission of Canada in New Delhi . When we sent the CRC app to the Ghana commissioner's office they replied that they won't send the report to High Commission, all they could do is to send the report to the applicant and since the applicant was my father and not High Commission New Delhi, they sent the report to my father. Since this contradicts the instructions on CIC website, I don't know if New Delhi processing center will accept this or not. Any idea???

2. My father's passport expires in about a year, and in India they don't renew the passport any more. When one applies for the new passport, they have to submit the old passport with the application for new passport. When High commission asks for passport, they want the passport to be valid for atleast 6 months. My father's PR application forms have the current passport number on it. What happens if he has to get the new passport before High Commission asks for the passport? As the new passport won't have the same number on it, would that be a problem to submit the new passport that wouldn't match the passport number written on PR application form?

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, experience?

Really appreciate replies.

Thanks

The process for your application through New Delhi seems to be confusing, so you will have to find out how the renewed documents will actually be submitted.
BUT it was our experience that the medical, criminal check and passport all expired while sitting with the Embassy. This is no problem, they will contact you when they actually want you to provide which new updated documents. My husband was allowed to go and pick up his old passport to take and get a new one. I'm not sure about the confusion with the location of submitting your documents, maybe someone else can answer that.
