Hi there, i am a UK citizen and im married to a canadian citizen legally and this took place in alberta. Recently i was involved in an accident where i spun around and hit someone by accident with a bottle in the mouth and the person has charged me with aggravated assault with a weapon. It was an accident and i have witnesses to back up my statement. It has not went to court yet but when it does how will this effect my application?

Im worried that this will force me to go home or go to jail if convicted even though it was a complete accident. My wife and I also have to girls aged 6 and 8 from a previous relationship who are hers but we have lived together and looked after them for the 2 years we have lived to together here.

Any help would be fantastic

Visit the CIC site and look up inadmissibility. You may also want to consult with an attorney.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/who.asp

Invest in a very good criminal lawyer now and try to get these charged dropped or significantly reduced. That's the best / most important thing you can do right now.
