CRA and SIN # background check , Do they track down all income tax return?

Hello to all,

I am not sure if I received a cheque or cash back in 2001 when I worked under the table. Now I am planning to apply for PR and this came across my mind and worried me day and night.
I called CRA and asked if they see anything on my file for year 2001. (This was very awkward conversation with the agent ) She said she had not seen anything under year 2001. I did not file income tax in 2001.
If I had received a cheque and my employer filed my income on his side, and I did not file income tax, would CIC find out this? That small business had shut down long time ago. Again, it seems like CRA does not have any records re this. Please help !! Thank you.

You are worrying for nothing. This is not an issue for your PR app.
