CR to PR to Citizen

Hi guys,

Well all of this delaying for citizenship is really disappointing. I'd like to know if any of you were convention refugees that became permanent residents then now are applying or have become citizens?

I'd like to know if any of the former CR's got RQs?? It will be interesting to know if this is a factor or not?

i came as a refugee and became as a convention refugee then a PR. i will apply for citizenship next January

Hi, no I did not leave Canada and don't plan to since it is dangerous for me.

Why dangerous ? It is if u r going to ur country

Well long story but basically if I am outside of Canada at anytime during my PR I am still a citizen of that terrible place (my home country) so if they make any trouble for me outside of Canada I have no protection. But, here I do.

I agree this is why it is better not to go to ur home country. I did call call centre agents and asked them about leaving Canada for vacation or family visit or whatever. They said there should be no problem as long as i dont visit my country and keep the timeline to maintaine my PR ( be in Canada 3 years out of 4 ) i went and visited my family in a country that is not my home country and i didnt have any problem at all. I even applied for a travel document and i got it

That's cool, which travel document did you apply for? Was it the refugee one?

Lol there is only one kind of travel documents .. Go to google and look got travel document application p

Well there is the one for PR's that have no passport from their country of origin.

It is for propel who dont have passports or their passports are expired

Btw when u arrived here as a refugee did they issue u a deportation order first ?

Yes, they do this for all refugees and it becomes active if you didn't get a positive hearing.
