hi guys....need your help please.

i live in Edmonton and i have a cosin who lives in Fiji and she is a single mom with 3 kids.

She recently visited Australia for 2 weeks and New Zealand for 3 weeks in 2012.

She is a teacher in Fiji and owns a house. She has some savings as well.

i would like to have her come visit us for a month in Canada.

she says she would stay in a hotel for a week and my place as she is very independent.

The question is that do i need to give my cousin a letter of invitation to come visit here.

she was saying she does not want the letter as she wants to do this on her own...she has more then enough funds to support herself for a month

Generally, it helps to include an invitation letter from a relative/family member as it indicates a stronger purpose of visit.

There are instances, however, of applicants who choose to visit as tourists (not a family visit). This works if their financial situation + ties to the home country are absolutely solid + they have good travel history.

BTW I would show I have finances that can support me well beyond one month + a good financial situation in the home country = a good reason to return home.

Also, a one month visit as a tourist is too long. She would have to work out detailed day-by-day expenses and prove she has the finances to support her visit right down to the last dollar/cent.
