Couple with PGWP application, and a separate work permit application.

Hello,

I'm an international student, applying soon for a PGWP. My girlfriend is planning to come in from the US (neither of us Canadian nor American citizens), on a work permit. Our two immigration processes are separate, and not reliant on a sponsorship.

We're wondering what would happen if we got married back home, while both our applications were getting processed, we'd obviously inform IRCC. Would it delay our applications by a lot? I'm having some trouble researching this particular situation, since it doesn't involve either of us "bringing" over the other, so is there anything we should know about doing this, or should we wait for both our applications to be processed?

Thanks.

You are not immigrating at this point. You are temporary workers. You can get married and change status. Not sure how it would delay applications.
