For calculating the number of days of stay in foreign country which calculation method is to be adopted?

1. From the day of leaving home country to the day of landing again in home country?

or

2. From the day of landing in a foreign country to the day of leaving that foreign county?

I checked flight dates and immigration stamps.

I'd say from the arrival stamp to departure stamp of the destination country makes the most sense.
