I got 48 marks in physics out of 100 and my overall percentage is 64.7, My other subjects are biology, english, chemistry and physical education. on the top of that i also have 3 year gap after class 12th because i dropped out of college.

I wanted to pursue either any medical or technology related programs in canada but the counselor said thats very difficult because of the marks on one of my core subject is below 55% and i also have a long year gap. She said my only hope is business diploma courses like business administration which i dont want to do as i thing business degrees are pretty useless and there arnt any jobs for this as its too broad a degree.

So what should i do?

Ive heard international students can change thier program later but im not sure. Will i be able to change my program like after 6 months of business diploma, can i transfer to a medical program like nursing or tech program like computer programming?

Please respond. Im frustrated and confused.
Thank you. :(

Hi buddy
Don’t feel let down by what she said ! If you are really passionate about studying something else then go for it, but from visa officer’s point of view your decision has to make sense.
In your case I believe you should go with some easy course as your undergraduate degree (because your marks are low & that is a concern to the Visa Officer, I am not saying you won’t be able to excel in the course of your choice, you definitely will but for getting a study permit approved you gotta amend your ways) and then maybe you can pursue your choice of course as a post graduate program subsequently.
Another option for you can be you pursue a course of your choice from India, give your best, maintain good grades throughout & then go for a post graduate program in abroad (you will be set then)
I also think, if you are applying now, get a good IELTS result, it will benefit you to nullify your past academic record to some extent maybe.

Buddy I would also like to ask:
How much did you score in biology, physical education, etc ?
maybe if you have a decent grade in physical education & biology, you can opt for some course related to nutrition maybe… just a thought (it will also not raise serious questions during your application processing, but if you go for some technological course you might be restrained from it because of your low score in physics)

think about it …
But for sure you are not a gone case !!! *** that counsellor (no hard feelings to the professionals on this thread)

You can also go ahead in your letter of explanation saying why you dropped out of college, give a valid reason that the course was not in your interest & you had different career objectives, etc. So anyhow, mind it you cannot go for the same course from which you dropped out because then you will have to give many more reasons to the Visa Officer that why did you drop out back then and also explain why now you are planning to go for a similar course, so what guarantee can you give that you won’t be dropping out this time as well.
so the choice of course this time has to be very smart which shouldn’t contradict your past decisions in any way.
keep every aspect in mind !!!
Remember you have to look like a genuine student !!!
& you must clearly convey your solid future career aspirations which you will fulfil with the help of the course you are applying for !!!
