Could Pakistani really survive Alberta cold weather

Hello,
I am planning to move to Edmonton, Alberta for Master's studies, some of my friends who are in Canada, and other corners of the world had advised not to go to Alberta since it is impossible to tolerate the weather there.
I am posting here to ask the fellow Pakistanis who are studying and living in Alberta about their situation and how they are coping up with the weather.

I am not pakistani or not in Alberta also but if you want success you need take some extra step. There are many students from india and pakistan leaving there if they can then i believe you also can.

I have a firm believe that I would easily bear Canada's weather, I just want to hear what others have to say about their experience.

I am not in alberta or pakistani..but look at it this way out of 12 months, very harsh weather is only about 3-4 months ........part of december till part of april roughly......rest its okis temperatures.....also everwhere inside there r heaters .....u buy good winter weather cloths for out side ...also winter activities r fun too like skying etc....so dont be afraid everyone manages....it may get tough but u get used to it slowly.
