Cost to Review Sponsorship Package Before Mailing it Out?

Hello Everyone,

I know a lot of people either do work on the spousal sponsorship documents on their own or via a lawyer. For those that do it on their own, I have heard about services where a qualified individual reviews your completed package for a small fee just to make sure you haven't missed any critical steps so the application isn't rejected.

Does anyone know where I can go to get my documents reviewed? I'm from Mississauga. My wife and I have completed all the documents and have gathered all the evidence and organized it all together. It would be nice to have a qualified professional review our work for a few hundred dollars as opposed to thousands that lawyers charge.

I'm sure a lot of people could benefit from this as I have noticed people doing them on their own.

Your advice is appreciated!

as long as you follow the guidelines in cic website together with the country specifics, i think you will be fine.
that is the main purpose of the checklist, for you to check if all the requirements are complete in your application.

Phone a few immigration consultants or immigration lawyers and ask how much they charge for a review. I know one forum member (rjessome) does this, and it doesn't cost too much.

Yeah, just call up an immigration lawyer and they will review it. I got mine reviewed for $120, which was not bad, but all he told me was that the applicant's papers have to be signed no more than 7 days before sending them to Missisauga (which i doubt is true lol) and I had filled out all the papers by hand but there were a couple of the forms that had to be filled on the computer because it generates a barcode to make it easier to transfer data. Either way, if you are unsure, deff have them looked over

Thanks guys, I will check it out. Any lawyers you would recommend?

Also, the forms have to be signed no more than 7 days before submitting them??! Can anyone confirm if this is true? My wife submitted her forms to me few weeks before and now I'm waiting for her medical forms so our forms aren't signed on the same day and they certainly wont be signed 7 days before the date of submission.

I can only speak for myself, but I definitely didn't sign my papers within 7 days of sending them off... We were working on the forms for (what felt like) months before. ;) They're also signed on different dates, we just signed things as we finished them - which seems like the honest thing to do. Anyway my husband was just approved as sponsor and my application sent off to London. So no, it probably doesn't matter when you sign the papers, as long as you remember to sign.
