Hello,

This is Syed Shahenshah Hussain, an Indian by birth and have attained my Canadian PR in February 2015. I worked in Canada between Nov 2010 to Jun 2012 and hence applied under the Canadian Experience Class program. During this tenure my first work permit was issued as HUSSAIN, SYED SHAHENSHAH (which is correct) and the following work permit displayed it as SYED, SHAHENSHAH H.

When I applied for a PR my name was displayed as ALIAS SHABBIR, SYED SHAHENSHAH HUSSAIN which is not correct, thought it is as per my passport. My name on all the school certificates has always been SYED SHAHENSHAH HUSSAIN. However my alias name (second name, referred at home) has been Shabbir, hence the passport bears the same as given names.

I would like to correct my name on my CPR, PR CARD and SIN Card to SYED SHAHENSHAH HUSSAIN before I travel back. I am currently in India, so kindly let me know the procedure to get this corrected at the earliest as I will have to travel back soon.

My passport expires in September this year, and if it easier to get it corrected in the Canadian records if I have the changes on my passport I can probably get it done before I travel. However I am a bit concerned how to deal with the situation at the port of entry since the names will not match.

On a side note, will it be easier to correct my name on the Indian passport before I travel or keep it unchanged and travel first, then fix the name issue while I am in canada?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions in this regards, much appreciated.

I think you should call CIC and explain your situation (they are really helpful, they were at least in my case). I also have error in information related to my height, see (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/correction-of-height-in-pr-card-yet-to-receive-t284961.0.html).

I called CIC & CIC representative informed me that I will have to get information amended in CIC record first & once it is amended they will instruct me on how to receive corrected PR Card. (Not sure if that can be done) Then in your case you could go to Service Canada and get your name corrected on SIN card.
