Hello everyone...I have been monitoring this site since my wife and I applied for her permanent residency and would like to say thanks for all the helpful info. We just received her CORP today and are ecstatic! I am Canadian and she is from the US. We applied outland as we live in the US and are moving home. Just a little info if this helps anyone as we have been greatly helped by this site. We applied in February and our application was received via FEDEX in Mississauga officially on February 26-2014. We received an email from CIC on March 25th with our UCI number. We then received a letter in the mail about 2 weeks later with my sponsorship approval that was granted March 28-2014. Shortly after that the Website updated me to decision made and my wife to Application received and medical received. Absolutely no news or change until today when we received her CORP in the mail dating back to July 4-2014. We have until February of next year to land. Basically the whole process took 4 months and 6 days. We are very lucky and wish everyone the same. I have a question and I am sure will have a few more before we move. Can we land and turn around and come back and stay here till December to finish up our business or can only she come back for that length of time? I have a green card but know I have to give it up when we return home as in move home officially. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

Yes, you can land and do the 'formality' parts of it and then return back to the US to finalize everything you need and then make your permanent move at a later date.

congratulations! i'm curious to know, was your application processed in Ottawa and did you have an attorney assist you? This is the first case i've seen where the processing was less than 6 months! good luck with your landing.

Mine was exactly 5 months. They really seem to be speeding up.

Actually, if you read your own timeline and put it into perspective like the OP did here, you got yours in roughly 3 months ;) File xferd to Ottawa in March. Visa in June.

That is amazing! So there was no update on ECAS before you received your paperwork?

Yes, rhcohen2014, our application was processed in Ottawa and no, we did not use an attorney...However, I will say I spent at least a month putting our application together and read and re read it and when I finally went to send it I found huge mistakes that I couldn't believe I made that would have delayed the process. When I finally sent it, it was put together pretty well so maybe that helped expedite it. :)

No, MapleLeeafBride, there was no update. I checked today and it now says decision made but I am sure I checked on Friday or at least Thursday and it said application received, the same as it has since sponsorship approval. I never received any confirmation it was even received by Ottawa except in the letter of sponsor approval when the said it had been forwarded to the visa office abroad (Ottawa) for processing.

I can't remember them all :))) but one big one was my wife's birth date. It was right in some places and wrong in others as sometimes the forms being filled out on the computer would put a default date in places and it would get memorizing and very easy to make a mistake. Had I submitted sponsorship approval and seemed like I didn't know my spouses birthday that may have been a red flag. :)

So just to verify, ours was 4 months and 6 days from the time they said they signed for the FEDEX package to the time they issued our COPR if that helps. This timeline is including sponsorship approval. We sent her passport photocopy with the original application so they did not ask for it again and she is from a visa exempt country so we there was no visa issued.
