CoPR/Visa-Name error. Is correction at POE possible?

Hello all

Although I sent my passport, they made an error in my name (switched first and last name) on the visa and CoPR. Couldnt they match the name that's on the passport, how hard is that. Anyways, because of time constraint I already made my travel arrangements to land in mid April and do not have time to get it corrected. I have couple of questions which are as follows:

1. How critical is it to get the error corrected? CoPR and visa are just temporary documents.
2. When I land in mid April, can I send the correction forms along with the forms that the IO prepares so that they can get my correct name on the PR card?

Any reply is appreciated. Thank you

it's pretty essential that the name on your COPR matches your passport BEFORE landing. They will not be able to change this at landing, and if you land with a wrong name on your COPR, you will run into issues getting your SIN#, healthcare. driver's license, etc. Your COPR and Passport MUST match. Everything you do after you land as a PR is based off the name on your COPR. Your pr card will be issued based on your COPR and so will all the services mentioned already. If your name is wrong on your COPR when you land, then everything you do in canada will have your wrong name, or you may be denied services because of the mixup which for sure will cause issues down the road. It is definitely best to fix this ASAP before landing. Your Visa office may be able to expedite a new one for you. This is not something to risk in my opinion.

CDNPR2014 I understand what you are saying. What I was asking was, can I send the correction forms along with the forms that the IO prepares. Rather than having it corrected first and then landing which may be time consuming. Because of time constraint, now is a good time for me to land. Moreover I have already made travel arrangements.

Thank you for your response.

i do not know. i would suggest calling the border office you plan to land at or contact your visa office. personally, i wouldn't risk it.
