Hello,
I just received my CoPR. It has the validity until Oct.
I am a US citizen currently residing in the US within a driving distance of Canada, and in fact, go there regularly to visit friends.
Given that I'm within the driving distance and don't have to give up my US citizenship, I have the following questions:
Obviously, I wouldn't want to do anything that would jeopardize my permanent residency.
Thanks,
-AC

I am a US citizen currently residing in the US within a driving distance of Canada, and in fact, go there regularly to visit friends.
Given that I'm within the driving distance and don't have to give up my US citizenship, I have the following questions:
- Do I have to be actually ready to fully move (belongings, leaving the job, etc.) to go through the port of entry with CoPR , or could I just go for a visit to get the CoPR signed, apply for SIN, etc., come back to the US to finalize things? I could use my friends' address as the destination/temporary residence address in Canada where the PR card can arrive.
- Can I re-enter Canada with a signed CoPR?
- Can I start applying for jobs with an unsigned CoPR? If so, and I do get an interview, would I enter with my CoPR or my US passport to go to the interview?
- If hired, I'm assuming that the employer would want my signed CoPR or my PR card to get me hired?
Obviously, I wouldn't want to do anything that would jeopardize my permanent residency.
Thanks,
-AC
