COPR activation and travel

Hi there,

I recently got approved for PR as of July 16th 2019 and I just received my COPR in the mail. I have not activated it yet. However, I have a vacation booked in the US for August 10th-12th 2019 and will be traveling by bus. If I activate my PR before then I will need to get a PRTD (Permanent Resident Travel Document) which is an absolute nightmare to apply for and I don't know how long it will take to get approved. I do not think I will get my PR card by August 10th so I was wondering: Is my work visa still valid and can I travel outside Canada and come back before I have activated my PR? Can I go on my vacation then activate my PR after. According to this document I have until May 2020 to activate it. Any help with this would be very much appreciated as I have friends coming from abroad for this holiday and I was not expecting my COPR to arrive at this time. Thank you

I do not know where are you going in US but can you not just fly back to nearest airport in US and cross the border either on foot/rental car using passport and COPR?

So what's the issue? You go to the US, and on the way back you use your passport and CoPR to activate your PR .

Hey, I am on the same boat with travels planned for the holidays and currently on a valid work permit/TRV. Could you please share what did you do?
