Hello all,

I am interested in visiting Canada for about a month to meet some friends, and I have searched and called a lot but have been unable to get any meaningful answers.

Here's an example question: Let's assume I get a 1 month visitor visa which arrives on 15 Nov; if I travel on 1 Dec, will I only have 15 days left on my visa or will the period begin from when I land?

I am looking to coordinate when to make my visa application so that I can plan my visit properly. I must add that I have no idea or experience of Canadian visas, and the time it takes to get the visa seems very uncertain, though the Canada.ca website tells me 44 days but I don't know if that's a reliable figure.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I can provide more details if necessary for accurate advice.

First, it is not advisable to make any travel plans until you are granted a visa.

Second, when you apply, you must mention the approx. dates you intend to visit. And no, the visa officer will not consider these dates to give decisions, nor is the visa validity granted based on the dates for your visit.

You could also search the www.canada.ca site for answers to:
1. How long can I stay in Canada?
2. Why did the processing time change?
3. How long will it take to process my application?

Thank you for your response. This clears my queries, and they confirm what I was afraid of. I guess I just have to apply soon and hope my plans fall into place.
