COOP Work Permit

Hi all! I have a quick question regarding the application process for the COOP Work Permit
I already have my Study Permit and my TRV, however I just realized I need to have a COOP Work Permit as well. Is it possible to apply for the COOP Work Permit online only? Without applying for a study permit or TRV? I have tried following the guides my university has set up however we somehow receive different answers completely. If yes could you tell me which answers to give in the questionnaire to get to the COOP Work Permit application?

Yes I did go through the link and went through the few questions at the bottom, however I was simply directed to apply online which led me to the questionnaire and couldn’t end up with the coop work permit option

Why couldn’t you? Are you not eligible? Are you in Canada? Do you have a study permit? You use the document guide and fill out the application. There is no specific “co-op work permit.”

Yes I’m eligible, no and yes. I’m flying into Canada on September. I checked the document guide showing the list of documents but where would I submit the documents? By mail? I was trying to get to the point where I can submit it online without also submitting a form for the study permit

So you can’t submit online (I believe) until you are in Canada. Then log into your GC account with the link provided provided above. When does your co-op start?

COOP starts for me in the coming fall semester (September ish) I believe. I tried going through the options by saying I am in Canada and they directed me to log in and apply which led me nowhere unfortunately.

I’ve also heard I can get my coop work permit when I land in Canada? Is this true by chance?

You can try at POE but if you haven't applied for one it may be denied. If not, apply online once you are in Canada. Also you can't work full-time on your co-op placement without the permit, only up to 20 hours per week off campus. Processing is about 4 months.
