A) He or you applies for PR and at least pass the first stage approval. Then he can get open work permit.

B) You get a closed work permit and job and he gets a SOWP based upon yours.

C) Get a Canadian education such as Masters degree and you will get a Post Graduate WP for the same period as that of your education.

There is no other option

Hi,

I have a 2 year closed work permit for Alberta, where my employer is based. I have been assigned to a project in Ontario and I have been here since October 2014. My project is extended up to July 2016.

My work permit states that I can only work in Alberta. Do I need to obtain an open work permit for my case, even if I am still working for the same employer based in Alberta?

My wife currently has an open work permit.

Appreciate the advise. Thanks!

You don't qualify for an open work permit. I would call CIC to find out if you can work in another province with your existing work permit or if you employer needs to obtain a new LMIA (and then you a new work permit) before you can change provinces.
