On the letter of employment verification, does my employee has to state how many hours I worked per week or can he just state in general that I was employed as part time? As the number of hours per week varied from week to week, will CIC require clear proof on how many hours did I work per week?

Yes, as you need to work full time equivalent, 1950 hours of work in a year = full time.

According to the regulations, employment is defined as

Up to a maximum of 21 points shall be awarded to a skilled worker for full-time work experience, or the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience, within the 10 years preceding the date of their application...

The definition of Full-time is

(7) For the purposes of this section, full-time work is equivalent to at least 37.5 hours of work per week.

doesn't say you can deduct holiday time

Thanks so much for your help on this. By the way, when I was stduying in the U.S, I was employed on part time contract with a small company in Vietnam so how does I suppose to prove this? According to this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37057.pdf (for the Canada visa office in Singapore but I check other offices and they require the same) , I only need to submit

For you and your spouse or common-law partner:
• notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers,
accompanied by an English or French translation
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers.
Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company’s full
address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company’s official
seal.

Letters must include all of the following information:
• the specific period of your employment with the company
• the positions you have held during the period of employment and the time spent
in each position
• your main responsibilities in each position
• your total annual salary plus benefits
• the signature of your immediate supervisor or the personnel officer of the
company
• a business card of the person signing

Vietnam does not require income tax for people such as me during that time and the company made cash payment directly to me so I don't have any pay slips or tax document to prove it. The only thing I can have is the two documents that are on the list, and maybe the work contract . Do you think it's okay to submit this?

what choice do you have?

supply as much as you can, try and get your employer to explain in a letter the terms of your employment, and explain why there are missing documents in a covering leter

I know...but I really would like to know if someone has successfully proved their work experience only letter from employee and the work contract itself (maybe the person can provide some tips). The work experience I gained working for this company is very important because it, along with my other work experience on the US, would be counted toward my 1 full year of continuous experience (if it does not, I really don't care)

Also, if I stay within the same company, but take a time break for about 3 months, and then got promoted to a new position (similar to my previous position but with a little better paycheck and much more responsibility), does the experience consider to be continuous?
