Could someone tell me how often they contact their MP's and is there a rule that you can only send 1 query once in six months ( especially with overseas office )
when i contacted our MP here in my city , they never told us how many inquiry you can put, whenever i called them , they helped me , they contac our embassy , our MP is really helpful , they were with us in touch all the time
This is from the office of Judy Sgro ( Former Minister of Citizen and Immigration ), she is now MP
Good day,
To answer your question, the time between inquiries varies from office to office. Our office does an inquiry on a case every three months. If it is a parental class case it is 6 months as the cases can take years to process and the cases move slowly. An important thing to keep in mind is that every inquiry made can delay the case as the person responding has to obtain the case from the officer working on the case. Requesting an inquiry every 4 weeks would be considered as creating a delay to the case. The case would not move forward as it would not be in the hands of the officer working on the case but with the person replying to a case.
The embassy does not dictate the time between inquires but do warm the MPs offices of a delay to a case due to an inquiry.
A second concern is the staff available in each office. Due to budgetary restraints our office has only 2 staff serving the entire riding of York West. We deal with hundreds of cases and we do not have the resources to provide a reply to a single case every 4 weeks especially when the information returned to us may be the same from month to month. If CIC requires anything from the sponsor or applicant, they will inform you via mail to the address provided with the application.
