I know that this has been written about a lot on the forum.

I am trying to contact the CIC call centre from abroad.

I'm using the number 1 613 944 4000

I can get through 1 - english - then I hear the menu (which has 8 options) however when I press 2 (the option for immigration, citizenship) i get a recording that says 'this is not a valid option. I was able to press 1 and get to passport and 3 and get to travel

Has anyone been able to get through to them recently - did anyone else have this issue?

How else were people able to contact mississauga if they aren't in Canada.

Re: Contacting CIC from Abroad

Hello,
i also used this number for contacting CIC from overseas. Its really work i contacted them in seconds. It was a month back i contacted them

keep trying ... ;)

OK Update -

Now when I call the number then press 1 then 2 for citizenship and immigration I hear " no messages are waiting - please try again later - thank you good bye" and then it disconnects.

Is this normal?

I am not certain you will be able to use this phone number either. But, I call the 1-800-O Canada (622-6232) phone number, and one of the options is CIC. I call from Romania, but use a US phone number through the computer...I don't know if you can call a 1-800 number internationally or not, but you could try.

Here is the routine +1 613 944 4000 (for an agent: options 1,2,1,2,1 ... then 0 to skip the message) Make sure you are phoning when the Call Centre is open.

Hey Guys - thanks for the advice.

The touch tone thing still isn't working but i've been able to get the human person to send me to CIC Call Centre.

However once i get through to CIC and after pressions 1,2,1 0 they tell me they have no available agents and they aren't putting me on hold - they simply say the do not have an agent available and then it disconects me.

Has anyone had an experience faxing them their questions/issues?

Do they reply via fax, or email or call you back (if they reply at all).

Did you call using the routine PMM suggested - Here is the routine +1 613 944 4000 (for an agent: options 1,2,1,2,1 ... then 0 to skip the message) ? It doesn't match what you posted above.

Yeah that's exactly what i did.

I called 1 613 944 4000

The press 1 for english (fine no problems) :)
Then when I press 2 for Immigration, Visa & Citizenship I get 1 of 2 recordings either: "this is not a valid option" or " no messages are waiting - please try again later" (I tried all the other options and immigration is the only one that wasn't working) - so i pressed 0 and got the lovely opperator to put me through.

After which i hear a long speach about domestic helpers and then I press 1, 2, 1 ... 0 and then they say they have no agents available and hang up.

So essentially i did just as PMM suggested (1, 2(not working but got put through manually), 1, 2,1..0 and then get hung up on :(

I guess they really don't want to talk to me

This has happened to me you just have to keep trying. If there are too many people in the queue they will not let you hold for an agent. so you just have to keep trying.

Usually if you keep calling right back, you will get in queue within 2 or 3 tries. However, then you are waiting 10 minutes or more....

The 1-613 number has worked for me twice, but not recently. I keep getting the same things that AllieW does.

Haven't tried Miguel's suggestion yet, but I will during "normal office hours".

I love this forum, always different ideas! :-*

Hey All,

So I tried 1-800-O Canada (622-6232)

It was great - although I still ended up in the que that wouldn't put me on hold.

Anyway - I decided to fax them the query instead (as I could also send them the documentation that way). I must admit though it felt a bit stone age to send a fax :) - i had to go to the post office to do it!

We shall see if they reply or if I hear anything back from them as I don't have a fax machine.

Again thanks for all the fantastic advice an suggestions!

hi alliew, i had same problem but i tried many times, i press 0 and ask the representative to connect me to cic, and she did, the waiting is long before they can faciltate, try agan if u wnt. :) :)

So it seems as though they have changed the recording!

Now when you press 2 it doesn't put you through it tells you to call the 1888 # or your local Visa Office!

Go figure!

Anyone any luck. I am stuck on the same boat since 08/2011. When I try a three way call, the recording throws me off saying that they cannot transfer the call.

Any advise will help. Thank you in advance!
