Hi Folks,

Can you please share how can I contact CIC to follow up on my TRV application. I created the application on May 14th 2021 but I have heard No update from them on my application,

Also, does anyone has experienced such delayed responses.

Any pointers will be appreciated.

Cheers, AJ

Every time we call CIC to ask about our TRV status, they give us this bs about file being processed outside Canada and not being able to access the file. So frustrating.

The processing time for Cayman Islands is 212 days (about 7 months).

Definitely no region based priority. If you have flagged your application as qualifying to travel if approved then all you can do is wait. Your case is more complex as the spouse of a citizen but a citizen who is living with your currently.

Is there a way I can update my application, since my wife would be in Canada by 01st August and I would like to bring this into immigration officer's notice.
Thanks!

When I applied for TRV in 2019 my application was approved within 4 days. Obviously those were pre covid era.
I see...
In 2019, TRV was processed in 2 weeks (for my country); now they take up to 170 days.

Did you not explain in your TRV application that your wife will be returning to Canada as of August 1st and that is why you are applying for a TRV to join her for the birth of your child?

Hi There,

I did explained in my TRV the purpose of filling and I would be joining my wife for the delivery of birth. She has reached Canada but I've not heard any update on TRV however at present for Cayman it shows 173 days processing time.

I've an important question to ask as per Visitor visa applications submitted before September 7, 2021 it is advised to file a new application if you're

  • to be reunited with an extended family member who is a Canadian citizen, a person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or a permanent resident of Canada.

But even if I file a new application I assume they would take 173 days for processing it and they will not process it faster ?

My wife is in Canada and I would like to be with her in these times.

Can you or someone advise if it would be wise to wait in an existing application or file a new one?

Can I reach out to CIC and expedite my current application.

Please advise.

Thanks, Ajay
