Conservation work in Canada

Hi Does the private sector in Canada employ Nature Conservators, or are these positions all Government-based (in which case is it only possible to apply once Citizenship is attained?)? x

I have no knowledge in this area however a quick google search returns a few positions in this area none of which imply citizenship as a prereq.
