Hi ,

I know we need to maintain about $12,000 as proof of funds. Now if I do not have that money and my mother is gifting me that money, can I keep that money in a fixed deposit and show it as POF?

yes, i need information about POF too.
can we just drop that money on our bank account and provide bank statements? or should it be fixed deposit???

You have to keep the money till you get the Visa stamp. Gift is very much possible and can be declared when asked by the VO. A fixed deposit in your name is acceptable.

Hi

Thanks for the response. Do I need to tell the visa officer on the application form that the money in my fixed deposit account was a gift from my mother, or should I just simply attach a fixed deposit statement (max one page) with my application form and thats it?

Also does this money have to be in my account for a certain period of time before I apply for my application. I will get this money just one month before I apply for my application. I hope this will not cause a problem?

Simply attach a FD certificate..No need to tell it is a gift. Ensure this is in your nme and not joint name.
