Hello:

We did our landing as PR in 2014 in Toronto and went back after 2 months. Now my whole family will be coming to settlle in Canada in 2017 (My dad is in FSW cat.). I will be joining university directly in the same year after finishing my GCSE -A' levels.

I will be applying for different universities like University of Toronto, Waterloo, Mcgill, and University of British Columbia etc. from outside Canada as a PR.

1. Will the UNI call me personally for an interview since i will not be in Canada?. I will be applying in Dec 2016 and am planning to come and join the uni directly in September 2017. How do they confirm admissions to those PR's who are not in Canada? will there be any problem?

2. If i get admitted into University of British Columbia or Mcgill and decided to go there, will there be any problem since i did my landing in Toronto and these universities are not in Ontario? Will the fee structure / selection criteria changes and increases fee for me as a PR or as these Unis are not in Ontario?

3. Does one has to live a certain period in Canada or in a particular province to apply as as PR?

Can someone please advice.

Thanks in advance !

@Ace2000, I can only respond based on personal experiences. Others might have specific guidance to share.

1. Unless you are aware of any interview requirements for these specific universities, generally they don't call for an in-person interview. I had applied for the MBA programs at York and McMaster, and McMaster was the only one who conducted an interview - on Skype. I was a PR at that time, and had uploaded a copy of my COPR with my online application. Bottom line, I don't think there should be a problem.

2. Unlike the US, where in-State tuition rates are different from out-of-state or International students, Canadian universities don't distinguish based on a province of residence. You will pay the same fee as a Canadian PR as any other Canadian national/PR.

3. Not sure what you mean by this question, but I had applied to these universities within a month of returning to Pakistan after completing my landing and there were no questions specific to my residence in Canada.

Hope this helps.

FSW category. You could live anywhere in Canada. Always good to visit the University, get a feel for the place and actually meet people whether or not they call you for interview. Almost always Waterloo interviews candidates, you could always plan a visit for interviews.
This is all I can help with... there will be people who have experienced this who would be better to give you advice.
