Hi , I'm an international female student from Asia, My course originally was ending on Jan 3rd. I got the letter from my college stating that my course officially ends by February 29th ( as proof for my permit extension). The officer that issued my study permit had only stamped my permit till Jan 3rd. My Visa goes up till March. I applied for my study permit extension last week (November 12). I had plans to travel to the U.S to visit my family for christmas and New year and had booked the ticket back to Canada for Jan 2nd (just one day before my current study permit ends). It's only been a week and i have not received any updates for my permit extension application.
1. Would I need to pay restoration fee If I don't receive any status before my current study permit expires ( I applied for extension around 50 days before my permit expiry).
2. Would I have trouble receiving my permit? if the permit doesn't get delivered by the time I am leaving canada, my roommate would FedEx it to my brother's house in the U.S and i would only travel back once I get the permit. I know most of my friends who recently received approval and the permit extension in around 33 working days
3.I fear if they would need an interview or so on and i wouldn't be even available in the country after Dec 22nd. Do you think it's okay if i left the country to visit my family on such conditions? Would there be any complications for me to receive the extended permit if I am visiting outside the country for a short period?
