Confusion about Citizenship application

Hi All,

I am writing to seek clarification on some questions I have regarding the Canadian citizenship application process.

My family consists of myself, my wife, and my 4.5-year-old son. Although my son has been in Canada since 2020 on a visitor visa, he has recently obtained his permanent residency.

In July 2023, both my wife and I will complete 3 years of residency in Canada, making us eligible for citizenship. However, we have a few questions that we would appreciate anyone help in answering:

1, Will my son be eligible for citizenship with us in July 2023, even though he will not have completed three years of residency in Canada?

2, As my son is below 18 years old, we understand that we need to complete a paper application for him. Can I submit just my application online while my wife submits a paper application for herself and my son, or we all must apply together as a family in paper application?

3, We have heard that online applications are processed faster than paper applications. Is this true?

4, Suppose I have submitted a group paper application for myself, my wife, and my son, but my wife and son need to relocate temporarily. If we receive a citizenship test request, can I take the test alone and reschedule my wife's test for a later date when she will be back in Canada, or do we have to take the test as a group?

I would appreciate any information you can provide to help clarify our confusion. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You and your wife can apply for citizenship together along with your son.

She can take the test from overseas, once she receives the test invite she has to inform IRCC
