Just a question came to my mind.

In sponsorship application, applicant has to give details on what plans he/she has made to settle in Canada.

To get a visitor visa, applicant has to ensure he/she will return back to the home country once visa expires.

In interview for sponsorship, CIC might question the applicant if he/she tried to visit the sponsor in Canada, if not, why not?

In visitor visa, you have to mention that Sponsorship Application is in process.

My question is how can applicant deal/explain these two scenarios at the same time. In one part you have to ensure you will return home (show family ties to home country) and on other side you have to tell your plans to settle in Canada (move permanently).

i'm unaware of the principal applicant needing to provide settlement plans in their pr applicaiton. this is specific to the sponsor if they are currently not residing in canada. i was the prinicpal applicant and did not provide any settlement plans that i can recall. are you sure you are looking at the prinicpal applicant's application?

i don't see how a sponsor's plans to resettle in canada, if not currently there, has any relavance in a visitor's visa application for a principal applicant? i think you are confusing the 2 applications and making it quite complicated. the pr application and a visitor's visa are 2 different applications. they have nothing to do with each other, so they don't need to have the same explanations of intent.

I mean if there is sponsorship application in process, that means applicant wants to move to Canada permanently. While to get visit visa, applicant has to prove that he/she is not intending to move to Canada permanently.

So most likely, visitor visa can be rejected. And then CIC asks applicant in interview if he/she tried to visit the sponsor in Canada.

Or maybe I am confused :p

again, these are 2 different applications. so yes, i think you are confused and over thinking this.

a visitor visa is for someone to VISIT canada - there is no reason for someone to prove they want to move to canada permanently when applying to VISIT canada.

while a recent PR application can be a reason for a failed visitor's visa, the opposite is not necessarily true.

a pr application is for a person to move to canada permanently, and has nothing to do with their attempts to visit previously. this is why a person applies for pr - to be able to be with their spouse legally in canada. if the person applies for a trv and it's refused, it is seen as an attempt to travel to canada, which helps relationship validity. NOT applying for a TRV or making any other effort to see each other raises suspicion more. if this is questioned in the interview, then the answer is - "we tried to get a TRV and it was rejected because of x y and z. we tried other ways to see eachother, and did a b and c. a failed TRV isn't going to automatically cause a rejection OR trigger an interview.

again one application has nothing to do with the other. stop assuming all immigration visas are equal. they are not, and they do not all have the same approval thresholds.
