:hey guys...
i am masters student from india.
want to apply for phd(cell biology)
after going through lots of reviews i came to know about the difficulties( strong research interests,references etc).
what should i do?
can i apply to a canadian course afters my masters which can be continued or converted to phd...
kindly help.

It really depends if you have strong academic and research background and u think that you can convince your supervisor for your topic then it is fine .Otherwise my suggestion is that you should contact different supervisors and talk to them about research if some one is interested in your topic he /she will let you know .If someone isn't responding then think about other options .

thanks a lot ali449.i am sure of getting a first class degree(bachelores and masters,its a dual degree 5 year course,left with just last year of masters).what else can reinforce the application?
what a statement of purpose must include??
i am preparing for 2013 admissions,kindly help.
should i apply in canada or uk?

Hey Balpreet,
As far as my opnion is concerned Canada is much better than uk in studies plus future life.So if u can manage ,go for Canada.Finding a supervisor doesnt depend upon your graduation grades but solely upon the area of research ,If your research area match with the supervisors area of research then chances are very bright .Sop is very important step as far as admission is concerned.We this is the only statement in which you ll deliver your research plans to the faculty or supervisor so make a strong SOP it ll help your case .Tell me which university you are taking into consideration ?

Balpreet if you are done with yor masters then y dun u apply for PHD.infact it is better option for you .

Go Ahead and apply for PHD in any good Canadian University.

Apply first, then send an email to some of the professors (not all mind that!!) whose area of interest matches with yours.

And try to match your experience (of Masters and Bachelors) with that professor current or previous work.. by reading his/her Published paper/personal websites.. Also mention this in your mail.. and ask for any other documents if he/she wants, such as transcripts/project work/SOP etc...

Go ahead and join PHD, otherwise it will be difficult for you to obtain visa..

Google it or ask any of your Relatives/Friends/Family Friend already there in Canada..

search on google for universities in Canada...then go to those university websites and see if ur study program is available there...shortlist universities. Research their application list and see how ur grads and everything fits also search here on the forum what people have to say about universities....etc. There are a lot of universities in canada and u have to spend time researching them there is no easy way out.
