Confused about PR requirements and work hours. Help!

hi all,

I just spent 6 months working full time as a cook. However, i relocated and landed 2 part time jobs also as a cook. I work 3 days at one place and 2 days at another so i still work 5 days a week.

Can i do another 6 months with my 2 part time jobs and then apply for PR?

Just need clarification since i cant find anything online!

Also, an employer flaked on me. How long can i stay without a job until the timer resets for a full year of work. Can i do 6 months, off for 1 month, work 6 months and still qualify for PR?

That would be a break in continuity so you wouldn't meet the eligibility criteria of the FSW program.

I found a job last week but only worked 1 day and starting another job tomorrow. Last day i worked at my old job was march 13th. So that would be a break of less than a month. Does that mean the timer still resets and i lose my 6 months of experience?

I cant find any answers online

I believe chefs and cooks are classified under Skilled Trades and therefore you would be applying under the Federal Skilled Trades program.

I don't think it needs to be continuous. From my reading, you just need to acquire the experience either full time or part time. As long as you meet this requirement:

have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the 5 years before you apply

It confirms that short breaks or interruptions in employment are not considered to break the continuity of employment for the purposes of determining if an individual has one year of continuous employment in an eligible occupation.19 Nevertheless, it does not define “short breaks”, but rather indicates as an example that it would be acceptable if, before the end of a contract, an applicant had secured future employment beginning shortly after the end of the first contract. If future employment had not been secured and a two to four week gap ensued, it is uncertain how such a situation would be treated.

Yes, but FST and CEC don't require continuous employment. FSW does require it. If you're applying under FST, it doesn't have to be continuous so it doesn't matter.
