Confuse about marital status when filling the form of citizenship application

Hi everyone
My marital status was common law from 2012 to Dec 2018. In January 2019 I already updated to Canada Revenue Agency that I and my comonlaw partner separated.

Now I need to indicate my marital status in the form of citizenship application, but I am not sure which status: single(never married), legally seperated or divorced

That's a tough one! I would personally choose "single (never married)" but I'm not absolutely confident.

You're single (never married). Common-law partners do not divorce or legally separate.
