Hi,

I just checked my mail box and I got a letter from CIC in Ottawa (Application Common Law Sponsorship).

I can not really believe it says : We have approved your application for permanent residence in Canada. We have issued a Confirmation od Permanent Residence (CoPR) document for you and any family member accompanying you to Canada.

SO THAT MEANS I GOT THE PR RIGHT? I just want to make sure :) I just send the application in the 4th of march to Mississauga and they send it to Ottawa (not I thought to Vienna because I am from Germany) .... so all just took 2 month ...wow I was so worried it would take over a year!

I am in Canada:
The letter says I have to go to a CIC office or to a Canadian border to do Port of Entry!

Can somebody tell me where I can find those offices or is it easier to go to the border?
What did you do?

That's it or do I have to do something else?
They did not ask for the passport? so everything will be done at the office or the border?

thanks for more information I would be really thankful!

Emma
:)

Hi

It is generally much faster to flagpole at the border. Some local offices have wait times of weeks or even months to land.

You are visa-exempt, so they didn't need your passport for the app.

Do I need to bring anything to the border or just the letter?

And Can I work now or do I have to wait for the PR card?

thanks!

Bring the COPR and your passport. You'll need to get a SIN before you can work. All you need to do to get that is go to a Service Canada office with your ID (passport) and your signed COPR.

Congratulations...yes your chances of being reunited with your loved ones are doubled or tripled if processed in Ottawa and are from Visa exempt country.
Bring your papers with new pp photos and your passport of course...yes no need of work permit anymore!, you can work after signing on your CoPR(not the PR Card) but you will need a new SIN number you will get at service canada not at the border.
