Hi all,

I have a question.

My confirmation of permanent residence - IMM 5292 is expired (last January) and I did not notice that. I sent a photocopy of it to CIC beside my permanent residence card which is valid until October 2016.

Do you think there is any problem with my expired IMM 5292? Should it be valid ?

and do I have to renew it ?

Thank you,

Thank you,
Are you talking about your PR card or IMM 5292? I don't believe IMM 5992 expires or needs renewing. You get a copy of that at the port of entry when you first landed in Canada to activate the PR.

You don't need to renew it, but you should keep in in a safe place as it may be required for other government services.

PR card do expire and may need to be renewed (unless you get your citizenship before that)

Thank you Ray.

Iam talking about IMM-5292. I got it when I became PR. I was student for 3 years in Canada then became PR.

I have just checked it again, it shows like that:
Valid until : Jan 4 2014

I will call CIC to ask them about it.

That is that date that you had to land by. It means nothing once you are a PR.
