Lost originals of 'Confirmation of Permanent Residence' documents

Hi, My brother received immigration papers in India. He should be landed in Canada with his family by March 8th/2014.
Yesterday he was going through his papers and realized that his original papers 'Confirmation of Permanent Residence IMM5688)' were lost. He checked his filing cabinet few time but didn't find them.

We are worried. Did it happen to any one? What should be his next step? Should he contact the embassy?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah you need the COPR in addition to the Visa in passport.

If he can't find them, better contact the visa office right away, but I suggest to try to find them first.
There should be 2 copies of COPR, one with photo on it. These days the COPR are printed on ordinary legal-size papers, nothing fancy

Hi,

My brother sent an email to Immigration Agency through whom they applied mentioning that ' they have Passports, COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) with a water mark on it 'Not Valid for Travel' and Instruction papers'. They can't find the COPR (confirmation of Permanent Residence) with photoes.

The immigration agency replied saying that 'landing papers are scanned copies of your Original landing papers (COPR). These are not other or extra COPR. These are your Original Valid COPR'. We don't know what to understand from this? Are the water mark papers (not valid for travel) are the Original papers?

Thanks.

Hello UMG:

Well I think you are getting confuse here. Your brother would have 2 copies of COPR (First would be with passport size picture of each individual and Second same copy but without picture). Both of the copies would have watermark on them saying 'not valid for travel'. Your brother should have both the copies. Do ask your brother to recall at the time of getting PPR2 (receiving the stamped visa) did he receive both the copies or not ? If Yes, then he should have it right now as well if NO or its misplaced then you need to report it to CIC and get a copy or follow the instruction they advice.

As for response from CIC, the COPR is not a document valid for travel means your brother cannot use it for travelling or enter Canada based on it. For travelling purpose your brother has visa on his passport by which he can enter Canada.

If you have any other queries pls update the thread.

Best,
Savior
