Greetings all! Happy Holidays :D

I was just wondering a small question. Does CIC send some confirmation that they received the documents without any problems?
We did ask for a signature when we send it, so it is confirmed that it got picked up by someone there, but do they send like any confirmation.

I have been looking at this website, but it does not detect any files in process concerning the data I enter. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp

We have send in our forms end November, so it might be a bit soon, but just thought I would ask.
I applied for my OWP with the spousal sponsorship application.
I am applying inland.

Thanks.

You will receive AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) via the email that you provided in the documents. Check the email of both the sponsor and the applicant just to be sure. It does take them a little bit of time from getting it from the courier to updating it to AOR status, so don't worry! In the case of my and my husbands file, it took them two weeks before they acknowledged receiving it.

You will be given a client number in that email which you can use to check on the status of your application via ECAS:
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas

I even sent additional documents which arrived on December 6th and while they have signed for it they still have not officially acknowledged receiving them.

Thanks for the reply,
I actually just noticed we have send it in the week of the 9th of December so no surprise then I haven't received anything.
I will keep an eye out for it.

Thanks again, good to know I don't need to get worried ^^

Hi Mrs_Canuck, I have a slightly off-topic question: how did you go about sending in additional documents to append to your file? What did you have to write on it, and did you send it to the same office? I am sending off my PR app this week without the marriage cert (hasn't arrived yet), only a copy of the license (with a note), so I need to do this when the cert arrives. I'm applying at vegreville.

Thanks!

It does go to the same office with a little exception to the postal code. The original application went to:

CPC Vegreville
Permanent Residence Applications
6212-55th Avenue
Vegreville, AB
T9C 1W3

And the additional information went to the address for Vegreville listed under General Inquiries here:

CPC Vegreville
6212-55th Avenue
Vegreville, AB
T9C 1W5

You'll notice that the only difference between the first address and the second address is one number in the postal code which I have written in bold above.

Since our file had already been with CIC for around 8 months, I simply wrote "Additional Documents" and provided our case file # and both my husband's and my client ID #s on the outside of the envelope. I added a quick letter to the top of the documents inside that envelope that included all of those numbers again and a formal, typed note saying that all of the information within the package was submitted voluntarily by both my husband and I as further proof.

Since your file was just sent in, I would send the document in with a quick note explaining why the marriage certificate was not included with the original application and include the information of the sponsor and the applicant. Full name, date of birth, country of origin for each. I assume you don't have a client ID # as of yet? If you do have a client ID #, include it beside the individual whose client ID it is. Do yourself a HUGE favour and send it by registered mail or by courier and make sure that when it is received by CIC Vegreville that it is signed for and that you keep any record of an individual signing for it. Wait a little while and call CIC to make sure that the marriage certificate was joined up with your original file.

Hope that helped! If you have any more questions, feel free to message me! :)

Thank you very much for the informative response! I really appreciate it. My spouse only has a Client ID right now for her current work permit, but you're right in that we haven't been assigned a new one (presumably we will) for the PR app. I will follow your instructions when I get the marriage cert, and if I have more question I'll message you :)

So it is almost a month since I have send in my application and still haven't received an AOR.
Due to it being holidays, that is understandable, but just wondering if anyone else have received their AOR after submitting documents around the same time?
I have send mine in the week of the 9th of Dec 2013.

Mrs_Canuck, have they acknowledged the documents you have send in yet?

My application package arrived on 29 Nov (after checking the courier website). But no AOR emails have arrived yet. ??? ??? ??? it's been 6 weeks already.
Should I ask CIC if I don't get AOR emails by the end of this month ?
My visa office is Hong Kong. Would it be any different from other applicants with different VOs?
