Concerns around forum hosting capacity. Occasional "Connection Reset" Errors

Hey all,

Off-topic, as not immigration related, but related to the running of this forum.
Anyone else get the "Connection Reset" errors occasionally when trying to view a topic from this forum? It just happened earlier, and then again when I clicked on topic reply links in email for the canada visa forum.

The forum has been running slower and slower for me too lately.
I'm worried that the servers/hosting that the forum is run on might be reaching capacity?

If the forum admins agree that this is the case, please feel free to contact me if I can help, as I work in web development and know a few ideas on scalable cloud solutions for hosting the forum which can handle an increased load for a popular forum like this. Even if the "Connection Reset" errors are not capacity related, then I still noticed the forum going slow, and moving it to a scalable cloud solution may speed it up for users.

I would hate to see this forum go down (P.s. I know that that thought might panic some people, so please DONT panic, I'm sure the admins keep an eye on this kind of thing). I'm just enquiring to see what the problem is.

I would appreciate others telling me if its just me, or have others experienced the error I mentioned or found the forum has started to load really slow.

It's not only you sir. Website really loads slow. I also notice that the browser does not stop "loading". The tab always has this spinning loading indicator even if the pages loaded fine.

Even I've seen the connection reset errors and experienced very slow page loading issues..

Speeds have suddenly increased massively this morning, I wonder if the admins saw the message and were able to upgrade their hosting plan. Seems unlikely to happen so quickly, so the more likely answer may be timezones and the busiest users of the forum might be asleep right now

Oh dear, guess it didn't improve. Yesterday evening was full of connection resets, and I was totally unable to get on the forum.

This is serious guys and girls, we need Canada Visa to look into this as for most people this forum is a lifeline for their visa applications.

I tried emailing them, but I have had no reply. Maybe if more people email in with the concern, it will make them look into it.

Alternatively, if this does not improve, what do we do? Is there scope for going to another forum? But none has the dedication we seem to have on this one... And even if I for example set up a forum somewhere (I'm a web developer so should be no probs setting that up) but what about all the historical posts etc which are a wealth of information? And all the links TO this forum.

Basically, bottom line I think is that it would be impossible to really move the forum/user base, so Canada Visa have to help and look into this problem.

This post did not get that many comments, am I alone (with a few others) in this concern? What do you think?

If you have been keeping your eyes open while using the forum over the last few days, you will have noticed that we are currently in a period of change. It's probably worth being patient to see how things pan out...

Maybe I should have "been keeping my eyes open" as you so politely put it... but I've not been able to read the forum in as much detail as others may have, its been very busy for me lately.
But regardless, what do you mean by a period of change, what kind of change? Got a link I can read more about?

It seems that posts by us are no longer being tagged with our IP addresses but are being tagged with the addresses of a reverse proxy server run by Incapsula, who I believe are providing the hosting. There have also been various intermediate pages displayed over the last few days either reporting Incapsula messages or requesting CAPTCHA verification. Finally, a whole bunch of us got banned a few days ago... Due to a block on one of their own proxy server addresses.
