Concern about extending visitor Visa?

Sorry for my bad English

I have work permit which lasts until December 18 this year. In June, I extended my visa and have been approved recently. They require me to send them my passport so that they can stamp new visa on my passport.

My problem is, I did the extending for my visa to pay a visit to my home country this October. But due to the covid 19, this plan is ruined and I can not visit my country until next year. Because of that, it is meaningless for me to get a new visa since it would expired on December 18.

I will extend my work permit in this month. Because of that, I wonder, is there is any problem if I not send my passport to IRCC, and wait until I get new work permit to apply for extending visa again?

There should be no repercussions, your application will eventually be cancelled/abandoned.... It would be more polite to write in and withdraw your application with the explanation you just gave. Perfectly valid.

Is it a bigger hassle to renew your passport now and potentially ask for an extension of submission so your visa can ideally be the full validity?
