My wife came to Canada under my sponsorship last year (January 2012). But we have our 8 years old daughter in India. We did not include her in the PR application with my wife because we thought our daughter would just stay with her grandparents until she finishes her High School. But, now we have changed our mind and have decided to bring her also to Canada. I have a few questions about sponsoring her.

1. I heard that someone can not sponsor another spouse until after 3 years of sponsoring the last spouse. Does that apply to dependent child also? I sponsored my wife last year and can I sponsor my daughter this year?

2. I know that sponsoring a spouse is a tedious process and it takes more than a year. How about sponsoring a dependent child? I am assuming that sponsoring a child is much more easier and quicker.

Please let me know what you think about the above two questions and direct me to correct links/guides if you know of any. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,

one first question about your case: did you declare your daughter and had her medically examined when you sponsored your wife last year? if you didn't declare your daughter and she didn't get medically examined at the same time as your wife, you can not sponsor her, ever.

I really hope for you that you declared her last year, and she had the medical exam. If that's the case, then you should go ahead and sponsor her, the sponsorship bar is for 5 years but it only concerns another spouse, so your own child is not included.

Sponsoring a child is not always faster.
Good luck,
Sweden
