Greetings to everybody,
I am hereby posting this query on behalf of my friend, whose study plan is to pursue 2 consecutive Ontario Graduate Certificate courses (1+1)
He has a approved study permit for May 2020, but he decided to defer his intake to September 2020 at the last moment. Since he was intending to pursue another course after finishing his first course, he had already applied in few colleges for January 2021 & received offer letters as well… though ideally he would have preferred to defer the January 2021 to September 2021 as well, but the colleges are pretty adamant to do so, so now he’s thinking about getting a refund for his current course (the college has made it clear that they will provide full refund in case anybody wants to opt out) & pursue the January 2021 course as his first course.
Therefore, we are a bit confused regarding the technicalities related to changing the institution along with the deferred date for the study permit. Yes, we are aware that one simply needs to inform IRCC about a change in institution without applying for a new study permit, but since his study permit has been issued for May 2020- do we need to inform them about the change in institution along with a study permit extension ? Or is there a completely different angle to it which I am missing … ?
Also, I would request anybody with experience to tell me- will changing the institution & everything result in a bad impression on ones profile ? I mean when applying for future permit extensions… can this (change of institution etc appearing in ones background) be a hindrance in some way ?
Thank you for your time
