My mom came from the Philippines almost 6 months ago on a temporary resident visa. She's been hospitalized here twice and she has limited insurance coverage. She's been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and it's widespread on her lungs, liver and spine. She wanted to return home to have her treatment there because it's way too expensive here for visitors like her. She has a round trip ticket but the airlines will only allow her to travel if she will be accompanied by a Medical Doctor. She's currently on oxygen as she has shortness of breath. Me and my family cannot afford to hire a doctor to travel with her. We have to pay for the air fare, professional fees and accommodation. Her supposed-to-be flight is on Saturday, Nov 3rd. The airlines just informed us on Tuesday night, we are still looking for a doctor who will agree to accompany her until she reached Manila. I'll be travelling with her as well. Her temporary visa is also expiring on the 19th. I'm wondering if the immigration can help her as other airlines are declining her because of her current condition. Her only wish is to return home and have her treatment there.

Can you apply for H&C and have your mom stay here - and get the treatmen here?
It sounds like she is too sick to travel and this might be grounds for H&C. I would think!
I sincerely feel for you!

Have you tried getting assistance from the Phil Embassy? Her being a national of the PH and in this case travelling back home - they (Phil Embassy) should be in a position to provide assistance.

How about cruise ships? It might be cheaper to buy a new one-way than hiring a doctor to accompany her.

mda - I'm very sorry to hear about your mother.

I agree with the above recommendation. You should contact the embassy. This isn't an immigration matter and CIC won't be of any assistance.
