Hi,

I really need immediate assistance pls, I'm out of status for more than 2 yrs now, Immigration informed me that I can stay because Im waiting for my Humanitarian application, recently one of the officer of CIC gave me a chance to apply for a Temporary Resident Status at the same time apply my Open permit. My commonlaw partner signed some papers showing that he supports me in Canada while waiting for my papers he can't apply me as legal commonlaw partner because he's not separated yet.
I'm worried that he's just playing games on me because I have no status at all and he's asking me to apply for these papers ( OPEN WORK PERMIT AND TEMPORARY RESIDENT STATUS) pls advice me if this is true and it's possible or I just go back home and wait for my Humanitarian to be approved.

Thank you

Sounds like you're talking about a temporary resident permit (TRP). If you get a TRP approved that's six months or longer, then you can qualify for an open work permit. To the best of my knowledge, you can't apply for the TRP and OWP at the same time. You have to apply for the TRP first - and if it's granted, you can then apply for the OWP.

Your situation is complicated. It would be best to be working with a good immigration lawyer.

That is why I'm worried if I am really dealing with a cic officer or it's just an employee that needs to answer any documents sent to them, I've checked the documents checklist and with what is written there I can't apply for a TRP if I dont have any legal status in Canada. He is aware that I'm out of status why does he need to ask me to apply those 2 papers.?
Is there any advice you can give me if I need to pay more to apply this? Because I'm paying my consultant and at the same time paying them for the application. I'm really confused.

What does your consultant say?

As I said earlier, your situation is complicated and none of us here are immigration consultant or lawyers. At this point you're really better off relying on professional advice.
