My siblings and I were born after 1947 and prior to 1960 in the U.S. to a Canadian mother who has since passed away. We understand that we are considered citizens of Canada under the Canadian Citizenship Act of 2007, but need to apply for proof of citizenship. We have gathered the necessary documentation and are in the process of completing application form CIT 0001. We have questions about some of information requested on the form, especially under 8A. The form asks for detailed information on our Canadian grandparents "If the applicant's parent (in this case, our mother) was born outside Canada..." Our mother was born inside Canada, but the instructions for the form do not say what we should do in this case. Does anyone know whether we should simply write in N/A and ignore the rest of the information requested?

Similarly, for the same question regarding our U.S. parent (our father), "Did this parent leave Canada for more than 1 year before 1977?" Since he never lived in Canada, should we answer N/A?

We tried calling the CIC Call Center and spoke with a very friendly agent who was unable to answer any questions about this form or to direct us to any help source other than the CIC web site's Help section. Unfortunately, the online help only repeats the printed instructions for the form verbatim.
