I'm currently working in a good company here in Alberta Canada for 8 years now. I asked our finance manager about getting some documents needed in sponsoring my wife. He said that the company I'm working with has a partner company who can handle sponsorship application as they have a lot of skilled workers.

is anyone of you experience this situation?

thank you

Family Class and skilled Workers are not the same thing.

The firm your manager is talking about could probably get your wife to immigrate through a Skilled Worker program, not sponsor her. If it's possible and it's quicker, why not go for it? :)

thanks betina for the quick reply,

I got mixed up with my post. I'm the one who will sponsor my wife not the company but they will refer me in their partner company to process the application.

the question is, I'm a Canadian citizen already and recently got married last august 013. my wife is a Filipina. she came here under the live in caregiver program. so is it still in the skilled worker program? or it should be in the FAMILY Class?

The Live-in Caregiver program is an Economic Class immigration program. But if she's already in Canada under that program, isn't she already a Permanent Resident?

The processing times for PR through LCP are very long. You should definitely sponsor her through family class instead.

If you are applying for sponsorship and she is already there, I don't understand the need for a company to get involved.

thanks Scylla.. yes, that's exactly what we are going to do, she's under EI now, and she only worked under LCP for 9 months. do we need to get criminal record for her before submitting the application?

exactly, maybe the company im working with understand that its under the skilled worker program, but I will call the partner company for more clarification and information.

If she's been in Canada for 9 months she will need a police certificate from Canada also. They ask for police certificates from every country where the applicant resided for at least 6 months.

That's probably the case, they think she wants to apply under FSW.

Yes. If the application doesn't include her police check it may be returned as incomplete. The CIC website has all the procedures for all the various countries listed there.

Just make sure this other company isn't just trying to sell you a bogus service that you do not need. For a spousal sponsorhip, everything is initiated, and undertaken, by YOU. Not a lawyer, not a consultant, not a company, but YOU. Now, you may choose to retain the services of an immigration lawyer or a consultant to assist you with the process, but the process is still a Family Sponorship.

thanks duberblue,, our company handled a lot of applications already but I think its under FSW not Family class, so the best way to do is call the partner company or I need to ask my finance manager again..

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr2-eng.htm - this is the general procedure.

In the Instruction Guide for inland sponsorship (you can find it here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp, along with the rest of the forms you will need to fill out) there is an Appendix A and Appendix B - those are the request letters your wife will have to fill out and present when she asks for the criminal record check.
