Company address changed

hi,

I have applied under CEC category in April 2014.
My company's head office has been moved in Sept 2014. Should I need to Email CIC about it.
From AOR confirmation email. I found that it is required to update CIC with personal address change. Not sure if it applies to company address as well.
If I do need to update address do I need to include any formal document from my employer? Let me know.

No need to update them on the new address of the company. If they want to dig deeper they can do it themselves.

If you have provided reference letter with Old address so its your job to update them of address change .

@ rezafc : May I know why its not required to update ? Do you think CIC has time to dig deeper for individual files ?


Well I would like to comment further , It depends on situation , In my case my company is MNC based in India , they do have operations in Canada , being a consulting company we have one main office where all HR guys sits rest employee work at client locations, so in this scenario as Reference Letter was based form Headquarters in Canada i.e. Canadian Address , if in this case my company changes Location/Address , Its my job to update to CIC coz CIC do maps/location checks too along with that if address will change most probably there might be chances Landline number changes whatsoever.

Coming back below one gentleman is saying it might not be needed that might the case if there are multiple locations of companies in canada , where one of the Location HR has provided the Letter and it hasn't changed though Head Quarters have changed .

Of course you may. In case of address change for the applicant, then yes it's the applicant's job to update CIC. But in case of employer's address change, lawyer's address change. etc. the applicant doesn't have to update the CIC, if the VO has concerns about the company, he/she can simply follow up on company's status (one of the reasons they ask for official letter heads with phone numbers, website & address).

And yes they have time to dig very deep. They have never rejected an application just because the company has changed address and/or gone out of business. As long as the business was legit and the taxes were filed.

By the way my company changed their address during the process of my application. And nothing happened.

no it need update , it belong to part of your employment information. think a while , if you company move from toronto to quebec .

also they will use that information to confirm if the reference letter infor is right.

the risk is low . your current manager or HR would aware this if they get call from CIC.

They can check the status of the company on their system, via Service Canada.

It's not like when you change the address, the company starts from scratch with a new name and business number all over again! It's in their database! They are not stupid!
And no, the company did not move from Toronto to Quebec! What kind of an example is this? What do you mean by think a while?
Even if the business changed names and numbers, and started from scratch in a different city under a different nature of expertise, still this does not have anything to do with the applicant applied under the past experience!

Stop confusing people at this forum! There is no need for update! Don't make the VO confused!
